Starfall Meadow

In the heart of the forest lies a large clearing called the Starfall Meadow. Gently surrounded by fir and deciduous trees, raspberry bushes, and evergreens, the meadow is a beautiful sight. The meadow itself is a bouquet of wildflowers, including cornflowers, poppies, yarrow, daisies, and bellflowers. There are probably countless more that I simply cannot name. In the spring and summer, one can wander through the tall grass and pick a full bouquet of flowers in just a few minutes - my dear Greta is always happy when I bring her an arm full of freshly picked flowers.

Many old legends revolve around the meadow. The most popular one is that a young man once climbed a ladder to the sky to pick a star for his beloved. However, he fell and landed in the middle of the meadow with the star, breaking it into a hundred pieces.

It's a story best told while sitting around a campfire with a cold beer, even though it was probably made up. Someone came up with this romantic story for this wonderful meadow, which is bursting with life, and I cannot blame them. I suspect that this meadow has a strong connection to the missing goddess Epona. According to these old legends, her divine power of fertility caused such a strong harvest that there was never any hunger in the village. The fruit trees bore three times as much fruit as those outside of her territory, and even the blackberries were twice as large as those in the rest of the country. In this meadow, starfall or not, such vast quantities of flowers grow that one cannot help but suspect this is the goddess Epona's final legacy.

Every time I stand in the meadow during one of my hunting expeditions, I sense that something significant has happened here. Ancient magic permeates the air, buzzing through every fiber of my being. There are things happening in this forest that I don't understand, but I know the old legends must be partly true. Why else would such an oasis exist in the middle of the forest? A place of peace and tranquility hidden behind the shadows of fir trees and bushes? With a view of the stars unlike anywhere else?
